Show Chairman

Our last interview has been pre arranged. May I introduce the show chairman for this event, Mr. Lane Changer.

    Hello

How long have you been chairman of this event?

Three years with one more to go.

And how long have you been collecting stamps?

Since 1958 when I was ten.

So that makes you 65. You must have a fine collection by now.

Yes. I pride myself on having an excellent representation of every aspect of stamp collecting.

So that means you collect mint, used, first day covers, postal stationary, postal cards, aerograms, revenues, souvenir sheets, commercial covers, first flight covers, ship's covers, event covers, stampless covers, and even confederate covers.

For sure. All of that. I keep everything in my stamp room at home.

Wow. So your favorite area of collecting would be?

I like airmails of the world on cover.

Is there any chance you have the US Zeppelins on cover?

Not only on cover, but I also have mint and used singles and plate blocks.

Really. Well then you might have the upside down airplane. The  C3a. Do you?

Of course. I have it as a flown cover. I got it in an auction catalog some years back. I also have a mint and used single, and even an imperf block of four.

How could that be? I have never herd of an imperf of the C3a?

    Well I do.

So how did you ever amass such a brilliant collection?

My work for years was as a CFO for a large corporation with a huge salary, liberal stock options, and I had a wonderful secretary with access to a top of the line color copier.

So is that what it takes to have a collection like yours? A huge salary?

No. But access to a high quality color copier is.

I don't understand.

When ever I talk stamps to a fellow collector, I encourage them to make color copies of what they do not have in their collection. And then mount the item in an album.

But that's not the actual stamp that collectors seem to prefer, is it?

Right. But that will have to do because not even I can afford the actual stamps that are described as philatelic rarities.

So tell me, are your US Zep flown covers also color copies?

Yes. I have a wonderful assortment of, now, over 100 different examples.

And are the mint and used singles and plate blocks, also color copies?

Of course. And note they are all never hinged. I probably have the only imperf of the C3a in existence.

But it is a color copy, right?

Yes. And of excellent quality. It is a real gem.

Well thanks for your thoughts. Now back to the studio.
